Cameron's Story

Cameron is a young man with a heart for God. (I say this because he has just relocated to the place we are all striving for - heaven) He loved going to the mission field and his heart was very large for those that have not in this life. Cameron had earned a degree in graphics and had planed on not only using this to earn a living but to take photos on the mission field and then use them to raise funds for children less fortunate. We were in the process of making changes in our lives so we could move to the mission field and Cameron was a part of this plan. We were planning a trip to Nicaragua in April of 2005. Cameron was excited about going. The children in Mexico had touched his life in such a big way that he wanted to do what he could to help. As we were planning to go to Nicaragua in April. Cameron had gotten off work with his dad and was taking a friend to get a passport photo for the trip. On his way an elderly lady crossed the center line and hit our son head on. He never knew what happened. He was transported to heaven instantly. That night hit like a hurricane and with it my heart broke into a million pieces. It was as if our family had been hit my an atomic blast. God has brought healing to our hearts and has held us close. We know Cameron is waiting for us in heaven and even though the tears still flow we know God has brought good from what was meant for evil. Through it all and through Cameron's testimony numerous people have been touched and have given their hearts to God. When we share Cam's story God touches lives. Our family has grown so close through it all.

There were around 600 people at his funeral. At the visitation the line ran out the funeral home door and down 2 city blocks. Besides having a degree in graphics Cameron was a model for Norma's modeling in Springfield, Mo. He touched lives everywhere he went. Cameron was one who defended those born with less whether it was physically, mentally or financial. To see someone made fun of would literally break his heart. When he was in the 1st grade I remember him laying in his bed crying and when I asked him what was wrong he said he had seen in school where there were children starving in other countries. Cameron had a very big heart. One day he came home from school with out his our his brother, Nathan's new gym shoes. When I asked him where they were he said that two boys in his class didn't have any cause they had no money so he gave them his along with his brothers. He said he knew his dad & I would buy him and Nathan another pair.

Through Cameron's testimony his cousins have dedicated their hearts to God as well as many who knew him as their friend. Time is short and we are not promised tomorrow. About a week before Cam was hit by the lady he had a dream that bothered him. He dreamed he was dead. He had come into my room to talk to me about it. I tried to comfort his fears and tell him it was probably not anything, but to be sure he needed to make certain everything was right between him and God. And if everything was right with God than he had nothing to worry about because if he did die he would be with Jesus. I am so glad we had that conversation. He told me he had prayed about it and everything was good between him and  God. That is a comfort that is priceless for a mother when you loose a child. He had us take this family photo at my in-laws anniversary two weeks before. He said "lets take a family photo Mom, you never know when something might happen and we aren't together." I believe God had let him know and for that I am so thankful.

Through Cameron's love of art the "Cameron Visual and Performing Arts" was formed in the public school system in Crane Missouri. Art shows are held along with music concerts. Then a silent auction of which the proceeds all go to the schools art & music department.

Also we have started "The Potter's Field" which was Cameron's plans to benefit children in developing countries with the proceeds. You can visit the Potter's Field at www.zazzle.com/3PalmsGraphics* all purchases on Zazzle bring a 17% of the sell to the Cameron Philip Missions Fund.

Gifts with mission field memories funds go to the Cameron Mission Fund. We will be adding more items over time.Cameron's Potter's Field
