“Behold you are fair my love! Behold you are fair! You have Doves eyes behind you veil.”   Song of Solomon 4:1

Learning to see by the Spirit is an important part of our spiritual development. When the bible says “Where there is no VISION the people perish.” Prov. 29:18. The word vision is from the hebrew word chazon.  Chazon means sight or revelation.  This verse is not talking about having a spiritual ambition.  It’s talking about divine revelation and that with out it people cast off restraint.  People lose all spiritual unction and the church falls back into powerless form, and the world dies.

The bible says in John 3:3 “Except a man be Born Again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”  God is restoring vision to the church.  Not just spiritual desire or ambition, but the ability to see His movements, to SEE the Kingdom of God.  This spiritual sight is meant for the church.  His Bride.

In the Song of Solomon chapter 4 verse 1, we begin to see a description unfold.  The Lover is describing His beloved.  The Lover is the Lord.  His beloved is the church, His BRIDE!

As He begins to describe her beauty the first thing He notices is her eyes’.  He tells her that she is beautiful and that her eyes’ are like Dove’s eyes.  One of the True church’s attributes (characteristics) is her ability to see by the Spirit.

Seeing by the Spirit is not only the ability to see into the Spirit realm.  It is also the ability to see things as God sees them.  When Joel prophesied of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  “That I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.”  Joel 2:28.  The word vision there is a derivative of the Hebrew word chazon. It is chizzayon.  It means to have a revelation.  Not just an idea, but a revelation.  To many times we have been quick to substitute a good idea in the place of divine revelation.  A good idea doesn’t cost you anything, but a revelation comes only from the presence of JESUS!  John 16:14 says “He will glorify Me, for He will take what is mine and will show it to you.”  The Holy Spirit is willing to show us the things of God, especially the mind of Christ!

Seeing by the Spirit does allow us to see into that Spirit realm, but many simply take the negative connotation.  For instance, if you can only see what is against you in the Spirit realm you will never be effective for God.  II Kings 6:17 Elisha prays that the Lord open the eyes of his servant that he may see that “more are they that are for us than they that are against us.” II Kings 6:16.  If all you see are demon spirits and fire and brimstone, then your speech and your preaching will always reflect your one sided view.  If you can only smell the sulfur of hell, and you cannot see the power and glory of the Heavens’, your preaching and your congregation will always reflect a diminished view.  Jesus said feed my sheep, not beat my sheep.  If you don’t have a divine revelation of heaven, you need to ask God for one, and climb up that mountain and stand before a burning bush until you get one.  Jesus said “We speak of what we know, and testify of what we have seen.”

John 3:11.  We have substituted ideas and man made sermon for real revelation.  The result has been an anemic and sickly church.  We have taken away the “children’s bread” and given dry religious crackers instead.  All because of the lack of revelation in our own lives.  Or lack of “seeing Him as He is”.

I John 3:2

Jesus said, “I beheld Satan as lightning fall to the earth”.

Luke 10:18.  Oh, to see the things of God!  “Who is like unto the Lord our God.”  Psalms 113:5.  Who can make war with Him?

Isaiah saw the Lord “High and lifted up!” Isaiah 6:1. What have we seen lately?
